Zumbro Ridge Farms; Doug and Tina Suhr Zumbro Ridge Farms of Kasson, MN was founded in 1947 when Doug’s grandfather, Dean Suhr, purchased and moved onto the family farm. Only 13 days after the purchase, the barn burned down. Following the rebuilding of the barn, there have been many changes and improvements. Changes include having the first parlor in the state of Minnesota to be a double two head-to-toe parlor which in later years expanded to a double three and finally to a double six herringbone parlor. Zumbro farms also had one of the first bulk tanks from Rochester Dairy. The most recent improvement to the dairy was in September 2008 when then Suhr family added two Lely Astronaut A3 Robotic Milking Units. Today the Zumbro Ridge Farm maintains 525 acres of corn and alfalfa. They also raise and finish out approximately 50 steers per year and milk 110 dairy cows. Since January 2009, Doug has served as the 1st District President of Minnesota for National Farmers Organization. He is also a board member for Dodge County DHIA. Tina is currently on the Dodge County ADA board. Both of Doug and Tina’s daughters are on their fifth year as members of the Zumbro Rockets 4-H Club. | ||||||||||||||
