Keith and Karen Gebhardt moved to Leonard, Minnesota from Alaska in hopes of raising their children on a farm. Neither had lived in this area and only Keith had any farm experience growing up on a small dairy in Montana. The Gebhardt farm is primarily a Black Angus feedstock operation and has a small herd of South African Boer goats for meat production. They also have a half-acre berry patch which they hope will be in full commercial production this year. The Gebhardts say they have learned everything as they go with the help of good neighbors and friends for advice and assistance.
The Gebhardts have part-time jobs aside from farming. Keith is a sports official in five sports, a Clearbrook Co-op Elevator and Dudley Township Board member. Karen keeps busy with her home based quilting business, being the current coordinator of the Bagley Youth Hockey Association and being the adult leader of the Northern Lights 4-H Club.
