Ron began farming in high school with his father. In 1992 Ron married Tamara and moved onto a farm that consisted of a brick house and various outside buildings that would aid with their swine and crop operation. This business has evolved into a family-run corn and soybean farm that involves every member of the family. Schumacher family members pride themselves on their use of no-tilling methods for all of their crops and applying fertilizer in the fall by strip-till.
Aside from crop farming, Ron has been a Dahlco seed salesman for 11 years and participates in the planting of DNR food plots. The Schumacher family is very active in the Trinity Lutheran Church and Big Stone County 4-H.
